Frequently Asked Questions

What is DataGuide?

DataGuide is a simple database application that stores your data in Excel files on your OneDrive. It lets you create custom databases with linked lists, without needing to learn complex database software.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored in your personal OneDrive account in a folder called "DataGuide". We never store your data on our servers - it stays in your Microsoft 365 account where you have full control.

Can I open my databases in Excel?

Yes! Your databases are standard Excel (.xlsx) files. You can open them directly in Excel, share them with others, or use them with any tool that supports Excel files.

Is DataGuide free?

DataGuide is free to use with your Microsoft account. You just need a Microsoft 365 or Outlook account with OneDrive storage to get started.

What are linked lists?

Linked lists let you create relationships between your data. For example, you can link Contacts to Companies, or Tasks to Projects. When you view a parent item, you'll see all the related child items together.

How do I export my data?

You can export your entire database as Excel, JSON, or XML. You can also export individual lists as CSV files. Just click the menu button on any database or list to see export options.

Can I share my databases with others?

Since your databases are stored in OneDrive, you can share them using OneDrive's built-in sharing features. Just open the file in OneDrive and share it like any other file.

What permissions does DataGuide need?

DataGuide needs permission to read your basic profile (name and email) and access files in your OneDrive. We only access the DataGuide folder - we don't read or modify any other files in your OneDrive.
